I’m new to Ruby, and new to Rails. I’m new to Python, as well, but this blog is focused on Ruby and Rails. I don’t have a clue about what I’m doing and have no doubt that Ruby is probably not the best choice of a language for making games. But you know what?
Fuck it.
When trying to learn something new, from a programming language to a spoken and written language to a new hobby, to ever advance beyond the most basic of basics, a person needs to employ the new skills they are learning in a way that is enjoyable for them. I enjoy games, and would love to one day be the head of my own games company (how cliché is that to hear?) and, in my mind, few methods of study can teach more about a language than gaming, if only because there is so damn much a person needs to know about the language to make a game.
So here I am, starting up a little blog to talk about how I am growing from being a clueless know-nothing (with no relation to the political party) to, maybe, some day, actually show off some talents with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
So raise your mead and give a toast to insanity, because I have no clue what I am doing and I am not ashamed to admit it!
Nor am I ashamed to ask for help.
If you are skilled with Ruby and Rails, and you see something that is a mark of stupidilidity, insanity or just plain n00bishness, I won’t turn away good advice (even if it gets presented in a trollish fashion).
