At 27 years old, I’m getting into the game a bit on the late side, especially when there are people my age who have been designing and developing websites for 10-15 years already! Oh, well. There’s always a time to start, and always a time to learn. Until there isn’t. But at that point, I’ll be six feet under, and won’t care too much, right?
So who am I? My name is Ryan Kell, born in Wisconsin, raised in Illinois and now residing in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
My hobbies range from carving and whittling to architecture to programming to writing, and I would say I am a fairly well-rounded individual.
I originally went to college at Columbia Collage of Chicago to get a degree in Journalism and (don’t laugh) Poetry. However, I decided rather early on that I had no desire to suffer in a field that was so politically charged as Journalism is, and let’s face it: no matter how much I enjoy writing, having a degree won’t matter one bit if I am a poor writer! Which I am. I love to write, but I’m none too great at it. Ah, well.
I have attended Waubonsee Community College, in Sugar Grove, Illinois, off and on since 2000, up until I moved to the Hampton Roads in 2009. There, I have studied a variety of English-based fields, sciences and, most importantly, programming and web design.
I’ve since opted to stick with computers, and am now pushing myself to improve on my (fairly strong) HTML and CSS knowledge with Ruby, Rails and Python. We’ll see how it goes!
If there is anything else you want to know about me, feel free to ask!
Go here if you want to read a bit more about the blog itself.
I take issue with the claim that you are a poor writer. Your room descriptions were nothing if not excellent! Glad to see you’re still floating around the web. And a freelance web designer at that!
